St. Mary’s Snehalaya Opportunity School is an initiative of the St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Cathedral,Queen’s Road, Bangalore. The school had its informal beginnings in June 1998. Since the St. Mary’s Public School was already a well-known institution, it was decided to partly make use of its infrastructure for the good of children with special needs.
It was formally registered as St .Mary’s Snehalaya Opportunity School Trust in January 2004.(Reg.No.739/2004).The School is now managed by the St. Mary’s Snehalaya Opportunity School Trust.
The School is registered with the Directorate for Disabled and Senior Citizens under the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Karnataka.
The School gradually established itself with the support of the members of the parish and liberal donations from the general public. The Rotary Club of Bangalore East gifted the School with a minibus to take care of the transportation needs of the children.
Space constraints necessitated the School to move to a more spacious accommodation at 31,Venkatappa Rd, Tasker Town,Bangalore-51 in August 2013 .
With further expansion plans in the pipeline, the school is now currently operating from No.758, 1st Main, Chinnanna Layout, Opp. B.R Ambedkar Medical College, Kaval Byrasandra, R.T Nagar Bangalore - 560032
